First Grade Goal: Introduction to the keyboard’s layout and basic uses of the computer.
NC State Technology Standards
The Student will....
1. Be introduced to the terms CPU, flash drive, cursor, and backspace.
2. Master the functions of the mouse (click, double click, etc)
3. Use the space bar, return, escape, arrow keys and shift.
4. Use correct keyboarding posture.
5. Use right and left hands for correct home row key placement.
6. Navigate a browser using - Back, Forward, Tabs and links.
7. Have a variety of experiences with a computer, including but not limited to the following: Internet, Microsoft Office, Paint/Draw programs, online databases (ie Encyclopedias, Dictionaries), and other age appropriate software. 8. Continue to develop respect for computers and related materials.
9. Continue to learn safe practices for computer usage.
10. Record relevant information in at least one format (writing, pictures, audio recording, or photos).
11. Construct new knowledge based on information gathered from a variety of sources.
12. Recognize that there are a variety of ways to share information.
13, With assistance, choose the format appropriate for the intended audience and purpose.
14. Effectively share/present information.
