Amazing America
This year in technology, we will be concentrating on social studies curriculum. Below, you'll find your project requirements. You will need to complete each of the activities and develop a final product. Look over the activities below and then begin to think of what you want your final product to be. At the end of the year, we will share our projects with our classmates.
Activities
1. Pick 6 stocks to "purchase." You will be given an imaginary $10,000 to spend. Use the document below (one for each stock) to track price changes over the course of a month. At the end of the month, you need to analyze your stock. Did your stock gain value or lose value? Why might that be? What surprises did you find? What did this experience teach you about the stock market? *We will begin this activity together to go through the process*
2. Choose 5 events/battles which occurred between 1765-1783 and summarize them (when it occurred, where it occurred, outcome, why it is important).
3. Choose 5 important people from the Revolutionary War and explain their contribution(s) to the time period.
4. Explain the structure of the US Government and the responsibilities of each branch.
5. Choose 5 battles from the Civil War (1861-1865). Include the following information: when it occurred, where it occurred, outcome, and one interesting fact.
6. Choose 5 important figures from the Civil War. Include the following information: allegiance (Union, Confederate, Civilian), why they are important to the Civil War.

Final Product
You have a little creative freedom when it comes to your final product. Perhaps you want to create a website, direct a video, make a PowerPoint, or an animation? There are so many ways you can be creative with this project! Whatever you choose to do, you need to include all of the above information in your final product. You also need to have your final product approved by either Mrs. Jones or your classroom teacher in order to ensure it is appropriate.
*If you choose to direct a video, the actual taping of the video needs to take place outside of school (since we don't have enough time in computer lab to accommodate). However, Mrs. Jones can show you how to edit your video
*Resources
Below, you'll find links to some places you may find helpful in your research. You are not limited to these resources, but if you use other resources, you need to make sure they are reliable (ex: Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, so it's not appropriate for school research).
